Summer Reading 2012

Summer Reading

Newport Public Library's Summer Reading Program is a great way to connect with other readers and earn rewards by reading what you want at your own pace. There are fun, free activities, too!

The Read-To-Me Club for ages 1 to 5

The Summer Reading Club for ages 6 to 11

The Teen Club for ages 12 to 18

Summer Reading 2012

Ages 1 to 5

The Read-To-Me Club is for children ages one to five years old and their family. The family keeps track of every fifteen minutes that they read together by coloring in segments on a reading wheel. Children who finish each step of the wheel receive: a Dream Big, Read! tattoo; a Dream Big, Read! magnetic photo frame; a a Dream Big, Read! book bag; and a signed certificate of accomplishment. To get a reading wheel and start earning prizes, sign up at the library's circulation desk.

See the Dream Big, Read! @ Newport Library Schedule for other activities.

Ages 6 to 11

Children ages 6 to 11 can earn a Dream Big, Read! t-shirt by setting a reading goal for the summer and keeping track of the titles they read. When that goal is reached, a t-shirt is awarded, along with a signed certificate of accomplishment. Interested readers may sign up at the circulation desk at the library. To get a reading log and start earning that t-shirt, sign up at the library's circulation desk.

Did you know that some teachers give extra credit for Summer Reading participants? Save your reading log and certificate, and ask your teacher in the fall.
