            Burn Permits

Burn permits are issued for yard debris only and subject to closure as deemed necessary by the Fire Chief. Permits are issued at Station One during regular business hours, seven days a week. There is currently no fee for burn permits.

Recreational fires are permitted without a permit. All fires must be attended at all times. Permitted fires should be extinguished before dark, should be no more than three feet in diameter and no closer than 25 feet from a structure. Fires in burn barrels should be no closer than 15 feet to a structure.

A portable extinguisher, sand, dirt, or water source should be present at all times, and fires should never be left unattended.

Call BEFORE you burn.

Once you have picked up your permit, you should call the fire station each day that you burn and inform us of your intent to burn and your permit number. This ensures you have the latest information on burn conditions and closures. This also gives us an idea of how many legal fires are burning in an area if someone calls 911 after seeing your smoke.

Free Yard and Waste Program

Lincoln County Solid Waste District offers a free wood and yard waste program on Skelton Road in Toledo. Accepted materials include lumber (nails ok), brush, pruned branches, bushes, stumps, shipping pallets and other clean, woody debris. Materials brought to the site are ground up and used in hog fuel boilers at Georgia Pacific. There is no fee associated with this program.

For directions and details, please call Lincoln County Solid Waste District at 265-4171.This is a great alternative for yard debris when burning season is closed.
