Rec.Center Closures


We will be resurfacing our main gym and dance room floors in April. The Rec. Center will be closed for several days due to fumes.
APRIL 23: Rec Center is closed – contractor is wet sanding
APRIL 24: Rec Center is closed – contractor is applying oil based finish
APRIL 25-26: Rec Center is closed – airing out the facility
APRIL 27-MAY 1: Rec Center is open – the main gym and dance room are closed; all other areas will be open
MAY 2: Rec Center is open – the main gym and dance room is reopened, but no heavy equipment can be used on those surfaces
MAY 24: Main gym & dance room will be back to full use May 28th, Memorial Day

Grown up and Me

Friday Night Date Night

Friday 5:30 - 8:30 pm
Ages: 3-12 years
$2.50 per half hour per child
Children can play board games, do puzzles and enjoy a variety of recreational activities in the gym. Drop-ins are welcome! Space is limited, first come, first served. Children must be toilet trained.

 

Nature Explorer Club

Grown-Up And Me Nature Exporer Club Spring Session:

April 4, 13, 18, 25, May 2, 11, 16, & 23
Times: 10-11:30 am
Cost: $180 for the entire spring session per child or $35 per day/ per child.
Advanced registration required.
Engaged adult is required at no additional cost.
Grown-up and Me Nature Explorer Club is designed to support the unique developmental needs of children ages 2-5 by providing opportunities to practice school ready skills through outdoor exploration and discovery. In this class children and their grown-up will have hands on experiences through various nature exploration activities. All Explorer Club activities will begin at the Clubhouse at Frank Wade Park and require preregistration/payment at the Rec. Center.
Instructor: McKenzie Purdom has been in the early childhood education field for over 15 years and has a strong passion for nature in early education.

Beginning Gymnastics is a program designed to introduce students to a sport full of exciting challenges (mental and physical) that will help build strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. Athletes will be trained to do many different skills on the floor, beam, vault, and bars. Proper stretching, technique, and understanding body movement are emphasized. Safety, fun, and more fun are priorities in this class!

Intermediate-Advanced

May register by invitation only. Students must have a basic gymnastics foundation and have experience on all equipment. Required skills: floor (forward and backward roll, cartwheel, handstand, and bridge, back-walkover, fronthandspring), bars (back hip pullover, cast, back hip circle). These classes are designed for gymnasts that want to transition from recreational to competing and learning routines. Emphasis on technique, drills, and conditioning. Elite Advanced

Indoor Park

Indoor Park

Join a parent/child play group atmosphere which provides a place for young children to play and be active inside. The play equipment is designed for walking through 4 years of age. Slides, ride-on toys, tunnels and more are available!

Teen Fitness Training

$25.00 drop-in fee
Pre-registration required by parent. Minimum of 2 students for the 2 hour class.. Attendance in one 2 hour class is required for all 12-14 year olds who want to use the fitness center (the entire 2nd floor) without parental supervision. The new Fitness Center age restrictions now include the indoor track. Refer to the Spring Activity Guide for details
• Understanding the FIIT principle, knowledge of basic muscle groups and types of strength training and other recommended guidelines for young adults.
• Fitness Center etiquette and appropriate use of exercise equipment for a safe workout.
• Specific training of cardio and strength machines in the fitness center.
• Upon completion you will receive a teen fit pass sticker that goes on your pass card.
