Are you looking for a way to stay fit and healthy? Line Dancing can give you a great mind-body workout. It improves memory skills by requiring you to remember dance steps and sequences. It can help strengthen bones and muscles, increase stamina and flexibility, improve your posture and balance, and give you the opportunity to socialize at the same time.
New Line Dance classes are forming at the Newport 60+ Activity Center starting on Monday, June 10th, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. The instructor is Maggie Bice, who has taught all levels of Line Dance for more than 15 years.
The beginner’s class, which starts at 1:00 pm, does not require any previous Line Dance experience. This class will start out gradually with very easy dances and the participants will learn all the basic Line Dance steps.
The second class, starting at 2:00 pm, is for more experienced dancers who already know most of the basic steps such as vine, shuffle, jazz box, coaster step, strut, rocking chair, and lock step.
Dancing has a way of brightening up a person’s day. Come join us, kick up your heels and have fun. Remember, you’re using your brain as well as getting great physical exercise.
