Agate Beach Surf Classic

This one-of-a-kind event held at Agate Beach, just south of Yaquina Head Lighthouse, attracts approximately 150 surfers and 350+ spectators each year, and is free to the public. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Youth Scholarship Program at the Newport Recreation Center, which funds participation opportunities in a number of valuable recreation programs for local youth from economically disadvantaged households. This event is made possible unique due to the joint partnerships between the City of Newport and local surf shops and businesses. Surfers of all ages compete in 11 divisions with prizes being awarded to the top three competitors in each division. The event also features a raffle, music, food vendors and a beer garden.
