RSS Overview

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a tool that allows you to stay current with news and information from sources that are important to you by subscribing to their feed. The City of Newport offers RSS to help you stay current with the latest information from frequently updated pages, such as meetings and activities.

RSS is a simple way to save time sifting through different sources of information looking for what you are interested in. The moment new content is available you will be notified that new information is available through your reader application.

How to Use RSS feeds

You can subscribe to RSS feeds by using a "feed reader" or "aggregator". Many browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari, already include RSS capability. Just point one of these browsers at a feed to view it, and then simply bookmark the feeds.
