Human Resources


The Human Resources Department manages services and programs which assist all City Departments in recruiting and maintaining a qualified and diverse workforce, and provides employment-related services to the City's 150+ employees and to job applicants.


Functions performed by the Human Resources Department include:

  • Employee recruitment, assessment, selection and orientation.

  • Classification and compensation, including development and maintenance of job descriptions and salary schedules.

  • Employee relations, including labor negotiations with three organized bargaining units a non-represented and a management/confidential group.

  • Maintenance of employee personnel records, confidential background evaluations, and workers compensation.

  • Employee leave administration
  •    
  • Employee benefit program administration
  •     
  • Policy development, interpretation, administration, and compliance
  •     
  • Workers' compensation and risk management
  •     
  • Compliance with state and federal employment laws
  •     
  • Training and development
  •     
  • Volunteer program
