Blue Variant

Blue Variant is Mojo Ken Mergentime (harp & vocals), Greg Ernst (guitar & vocals), Jan Kaplan (bass & vocals), and Jay Arce (drums & vocals). Collectively, these four musicians have blues
roots from all over the US with clear jazz, rock, funk and west-coast jump blues influences.
They perform styles of electric blues reflecting the diverse interests of the members. In addition to Greg Ernst originals, the band ads its own
spin to music from Albert King, the Allman Brothers, Ray Charles, Tom Waits, Taj Mahal, Peter Green, George Benson, Keb Mo and many others.
The band loves performing and you will move, smile, and groove to the Variant.

Mike O'Donnell

Mike O'Donnell has been performing folk music for almost 50 years to audiences of all ages and writes his own songs, many of them inspired by Lincoln County. He also sings traditional
folk tunes, and performs on guitar and harmonica. O'Donnell was born and raised in Lincoln County, and returned to the area in 2019 after fifteen years in New Hampshire, where he worked as a substitute teacher and librarian.
He has performed at the Northwest Folklife Festival, the Oregon State Capitol, the Oregon Folklife Festival, and in Ireland, and wrote the centennial song for Lincoln County, where his family homesteaded.

The Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus

The Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus has been entertaining audiences in Lincoln County for more than 25 years. As a member chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, they have evolved from a male-only chorus
to one that welcomes all singers. They sing primarily in the Barbershop style, with its distinctive harmonies, but not all of their songs are a century old.

Bob Taylor is a jazz performer, educator, clinician, and author. He has taught jazz studies at Cal State University Los Angeles, Pasadena City College, and Brigham Young University, as well as performing on trumpet in the BYU
Faculty Jazz Quintet. he is the author of Sightreading Jazz and The Art of Improvisation books and CDs. Bob recently moved to Newport from the Salt Lake City area and is performing in local concerts
Bill Hartsell has played and studied jazz guitar since picking up the instrument in 3rd grade. He has played regularly with local jazz combos and been involved with the Oregon Coast Jazz Party. Bill has served as the musical director
and primary composer/arranger for Perpetua and is currently the musical director/composer for the Central Coast Jazz alliance as well as playing with the Lincoln Pops Big Band.
Richard Dutton is a versatile performer on jazz keyboards and saxophones. He has played keyboards for the Lincoln Pops Big Band and has performed at a number of concert locations in the area, including the Newport Yacht Club. Richard hails from
Yorkshire, England and is the IT Director for the City of Newport.

Herencia Mexicana is a group of local dancers who are passionate to preserve exactly what the name stands for: Mexican heritage. Their traditions are a gift that they want to pass on to future generations and share
with our Oregon Coast community. In Ballet Folklorico, each state from Mexico is represented by a customary dance, traditional garments, and music. They invite you to come and enjoy their collective heritage!

Chayag en Familia Andean Folk Music

Chayag en Familia or Chayag Family. This project continues decades of work by Alex Llumiquinga to present an engaging interpretation of traditional
Andean rhythms to delight the audience both young and old. The emphasis in their current work is to show the importance of passing on these tradtiions to our children.
Get ready to ride the wind down the Andes to take in the sights, sounds, and flavors of many countries. Chayag Family alternates between playing traditional instruments (charango, zampoña, bombo, cajón).
Along the way, you will be invited to clap, sing, and dance as you contemplate the indigenous, African, and European roots of the folk music of Latin America.

Paul plays old-time Depression-era acoustic blues in the mono-bass style. He plays a cedar-top acoustic guitar and a National single-cone resonator.
