Newport Parks and Recreation Out of School Program will provide a reliable and consistent place for children to participate in safe and socially enriching activities.

Our rooms will feature stable pods of 10 children and may grow if safety guidelines allow. Limited spots are available now and interest lists are being taken for additional spots. Newport Parks and Recreation is working closely with the Lincoln County School District to ensure our program is what our students need.

How long will the program continue in the current format?

Our programs continue to adjust to the Lincoln County School District schedule until our summer program begins. We are prepared to adjust the program as new guidelines for care are announced.

Will programs be modified to assist with health and safety?

Smaller, stable groups are maintained. At this time, each group will have a maximum of 10 kids with the same staff. Activities and classrooms will follow the COVID guidlines put in place by the governor and the Oregon Health Authority. All staff and participants, age 5 and up, will be required to wear face masks. Restroom areas will have enhanced cleaning. Staff members will be trained in disinfecting and cleaning procedures for classrooms.

Will staff assist with schoolwork?

All of our programs allow participants to work on schoolwork and staff members will be able to provide support for learning but are not certified teachers. Staff members will not be responsible for submitting school assignments or completing work given online by a licensed instructor.
