Color Your World with Nature

Wind, snow, tornadoes and tsunamis—author and journalist Lori Tobias has been through them all, and all on the Oregon Coast. In her presentation on Thursday, July 15 from 6-7 pm on Zoom,

Color Your World with Nature from the Oregon Coast, Tobias will share her tales of adventure as she raced up and down the Coast to report on Mother Nature’s fickle power, including the 211-ton tsunami dock from Japan.

Tobias is the author of Storm Beat -- A Journalist Reports from the Oregon Coast and novel “Wander,” winner of the Nancy Pearl Award. Admission is free, questions welcome. LORI TOBIAS is an author and journalist who has freelanced for local and national outlets, including the New York Times, Seattle Times, The Oregonian, and 1859 Magazine. Storm Beat is her first book of nonfiction; her novel Wander won the Nancy Pearl Book Award for Best Book of Fiction from the Pacific Northwest Writers Association. She lives on the Oregon Coast with her husband Chan and rescue pups Luna and Monkey.

In Storm Beat, Lori Tobias shares the behind-the- scenes stories, as she takes readers through familiar beats of life— learning to live on the Oregon Coast, the decline of journalism, and the unexpected, often unglamorous experiences of a working reporter. It is the compelling story of a land that many visit, but few truly know.
