Lori Tobias author talk August 13th, 2022.

Saturday, August 13th at 2:00 PM in the McEntee Conference Room

The Newport Public Library is excited to announce that once again they will be offering a Summer Reading Program -- for all ages! The theme is “Reading Off the Beaten Path,” and this will influence all programs, prizes and signage for 2022. The Newport Public Library looks forward to welcoming you back for another summer of fun, prizes and, of course, reading!

The Newport Public Library is hosting an author talk with Lori Tobias, author of “Storm Beat—A Journalist Reports from the Oregon Coast.” In her author talk, “Covering the Storm Beat,” Tobias shares the behind-the-scenes stories, as she takes readers through familiar beats of life— learning to live on the Oregon Coast, the decline of journalism, and the unexpected, often unglamorous experiences of a working reporter. It is the compelling story of a land that many visit, but few truly know.

Lori Tobias is an author and journalist who has freelanced for local and national outlets, including the New York Times, Seattle Times, The Oregonian, and 1859 Magazine. Storm Beat is her first book of nonfiction; her novel Wander won the Nancy Pearl Book Award for Best Book of Fiction from the Pacific Northwest Writers Association. She lives on the Oregon Coast with her husband Chan and rescue pups Luna and Monkey.

Join us in Newport Public Library’s McEntee Meeting Room at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 13th 2022 for the very welcome return of in-person programming! Admission is free, questions welcome.
